
Biography
After studying Economics at Saint Peter’s College (where he received The Wall Street Journal Award for Economic Excellence), John J. Licata set his sights on Wall Street. He has held research/trading/strategy positions at Dow Jones, Salomon Smith Barney, BrokerageAmerica and R&M Futures, an OTC energy firm formerly located on the trading floor of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). Early in 2005, he founded Blue Phoenix Inc., an independent energy and metals research company based in New York City. Recently, John launched The Commodity Chronicles: The Blue Phoenix Energy and Metals Independent Research Newsletter.
John is presently Chief Commodity Strategist of Blue Phoenix Inc. He has fifteen years of energy and metals research/strategy experience which has made him a highly sought out industry veteran whose viewpoints on the global marketplace are well known and documented in the media (ex. Bloomberg, CNBC, Business News Network, Fox Business Channel). Through the years, he has developed solid relationships with energy/mining related companies in North America, and is looked to as a bridge between growing companies and Wall Street.
In 2010, John entered the Executive MBA Program at NYU’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business to even further strengthen his research skills. His expected date of graduation is January 2012. John is also a 2010 Nominee for Institutional Investors All-America Research Team for his analysis in the Natural Gas market. John is also a member of the Board of Regents for Saint Peter’s College.
